From pH Care to Humpty Dumpty to Maalaala Mo Kaya

Have any of you guys seen the new pH Care commercial? The one where a girl approaches her toilet cabinet and asks the viewers, "Safe ba ang feminine wash mo?" She gets a red litmus paper and says, "Litmus test tayo. Kapg naging blue, high ang pH. Hindi safe sa feminine area." She then dips said litmus paper in a body soap. The paper turns blue. "Ay, naging blue." Then she tries it with a detergent soap. Still turns to blue. The she says, "Try naman natin sa pH Care." Nothing happens. Then blah-blah.

Quality control. The whole premise of the advertisement is wrong. Why? She used red litmus paper. RED to RED is acid (read: high pH). RED to BLUE is basic (again: low pH). Hence, when she said that "kapag naging blue, high ang pH" it was wrong! It only meant, low pH. Does not match the feminine area's pH. Therefore, not safe to use.

Who wrote this commercial? A comment to whoever s/he was. Please keep your facts right. It's enough that you torment us with hard sells that screams "BUY US! BUY US!"...you could at least feed us with correct information when it comes to scientific facts (kaya nga facts, eh!).

I'm aching to watch MOMENTS OF LOVE. Not because I'm a Dingdong Dantes or Iza Calzado fan. It's just that there is a Taiwanese film entitled, SKY OF LOVE that has basically the same premise. A guy in the present time communicates with a girl from the past. They fall in love, etc, etc. SKY OF LOVE's catch (sorry to those who wish to see the film, major spoiler coming ahead) is that the girl in the past turned out to be the guy's own mother! Now, I want to compare wether MOMENTS OF LOVE have the same hitch or will it surprise me...?

I never thought that I can sit through a whole episode of MAALAALA MO KAYA (MMK) and be completely impressed! Last night's episode, entitled "Tubig", was truly remarkable. Ryan Agoncillo delivered an amazing performance. He was not just Ryan Agoncillo acting to be a drug addict. He WAS a drug addict.

And for the first time in MMK's history, I did not find the episode wanting. The directing style was really striking. It was not done in that conventional, boring style always applied by TV networks. There were visuals that put the implied message across. It was as if the director was aiming for film quality. Whoever knows the director, let me know. I want to glorify him. Hehe.

I finally bought Dicta License's PAGHILOM. Good buy. Alam mong sobrang pinag-isipan talaga 'yung mga kanta. And I really, really love"Ang Ating Araw"...

I have just finished Frank McCourt's 'TIS. It took me three years to read that book! I bought the book three years ago. I was so excited to read it. But when I opened the book, I can't get past Chapter1. And so the book was shelved into the corners of my book case. I attempted - five times - to read the book. But everytime, I'd stop before reaching Chapter2.

Recently - maybe because I've matured or maybe just because of lack of a decent book to read - I tried to read 'TIS once again. This time I finally managed to finish it.

The book was okay. It gave funny insights into Frank's life. But I still feel it's an inferior memoirs as compared to ANGELA'S ASHES (it's prequel). After reading it, you feel like you're wanting for more. And I can't help but saying, "That's it?!" While reading the last chapters, I was dreading finishing the book. Because I felt like Frank McCourt was just rambling on about everything and that he won't be giving it a satisfying end.

And I was right.

I felt cheated. Parang nasayang 'yung pagbabasa ko sa book...=(

But I did get a wonderful insight on page354:

Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall,

Humpty Dumpty had a great fall;

All the king's horses

And all the king's men

Couldn't put Humpty together again.

So, I ask, what's going on in this nursery
rhyme? The hands are up. Well, like, this egg falls off the wall and if you
study biology or physics you know you can never put an egg back together again.
I mean, like it's common sense.

Who says it's an egg? I ask.

Of course it's an egg. Everyone knows
that.

Where does it say it's an
egg?

They're thinking. They're searching the
text for egg, any mention, any hint of egg. They won't give in.

There are more hands and indignant
assertions of egg. All their lives they knew this rhyme and there was never a
doubt that Humpty Dumpty was an egg. They're comfortable witht he idea of egg
and why do I have to come along and destroy everything with all this
analysis.

I'm not destroying. I just want to know
where you got the idea that Humpty is an egg.

Because Mr. McCourt, it's all in the
pictures and whoever drew the first picture musta known the guy who wrote the
poem or he'd never have made it an egg.

All right. If you're content with the ide
of egg we'll let it be but I know the future lawyers in this class will never
accept egg where there is no evidence of egg.

Oo nga naman! Whoever said Humpty Dumpty was an egg? At bakit tayo nagpaniwala sa drawing?!
